Make a difference. Make lifelong friends. Make your community great. Make magic happen. And while you’re at it... make some money.
Do you have a burning desire to help people and strengthen your community? Home Care Heroes is the perfect online platform to launch your Hero journey.
Create a Hero profile to find people in your area who need a helping hand. We’ll connect you with Members who are ill, injured, elderly or living with a disability, so you can use your superpowers to brighten their day.
Being a Hero will change your life. Our Heroes are more than support workers — they are friends, companions and mentors, who go above and beyond to help their friends enjoy life to the fullest.
Be a Hero on your own terms. With Home Care Heroes you have the power to choose your hours, choose who you work with and choose your Hero Missions.
Heroes know how to have fun! We’re a vibrant community with a positive, dynamic culture. Meet like-minded people and take part in super-cool events.
The world needs more Heroes. Build lasting friendships, strengthen your community and improve people’s lives — including your own!
But we don’t let anyone call themself a Hero. Our Heroes are extraordinary humans who undergo rigorous screening before they earn their Hero stripes.
Every aspiring Hero must do an online Hero test and face-to-face induction, so we can verify that you have the right values, qualities and personality to be a Hero.
If you make the grade and join the Hero League, we’ll share your profile with people in your area who need a Hero. KABOOM! Before you know it, you’ll be connecting with new friends and doing good deeds.
Heroes come in all shapes and sizes, with various superpowers. But all Heroes have a few essential traits in common.
A Hero is an exemplary human with boundless enthusiasm and heightened empathy. They are trustworthy, reliable and committed to helping others.
Home Care Heroes make money for doing good deeds — but money isn’t their main motivation. This is not an ordinary job. Our Heroes are not working to get rich; they are striving to enrich and empower their communities.
Do you have what it takes to be a Hero?
“I think a Hero is any person really intent on making this a better place for all people.”
~ Maya Angelou
“A Hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.”
~ Joseph Campbell
“A Hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure, in spite of overwhelming obstacles.”
~ Christopher Reeve
“A mentor enables a person to achieve. A Hero shows what achievement looks like.”
~ John C. Mather
“Superman is my favourite kind of Hero; he’s always ready to save people but never tries to take credit or steal the limelight. He’s humble and prefers to stay disguised as Clark Kent — he’s an undercover Hero, not a celebrity. This resonates with my values about being a good person, helping people and staying humble.”
~ Mat Bertrand

Meet the Heroes
“For me, it has been a great experience to become a Home Care Hero. I’ve met extraordinary people with big challenges in their life, and great courage to overcome them. They have given me a new perspective on life … I encourage you to try — you'll connect with amazing people and will feel blessed.”
“My first experience with Home Care Heroes was working with someone who has Down Syndrome. Working with someone over 5 months creates a strong friendship — we helped each other every day. I would help him with his daily morning routine to get to work on time and he would teach me the way he likes his sandwiches. It has been a wonderful, fulfilling experience.”
“Home Care Heroes opens up amazing opportunities for me to use the things that I have been blessed and gifted with to make a difference in someone else's life. There is a need out there that has to be met by those in the community — and it can be met by ordinary people like you and me. It's highly rewarding work!”
Our Heroes do all sorts of good deeds, from playing games or cracking jokes to chipping in with the housework.
Here are some sample Hero Missions from our Mission Board:
HERO MISSION: Light gardening, tea and good conversation
I enjoy conversation and have a good sense of humour. I like to talk about politics and history. If you're interested in what Sydney was like 80 years ago, I'd be happy to share my memories. My passion is my garden and I would enjoy someone to help me keep it in good condition. You don't have to be a labourer, just someone who could help plant flowers, rake leaves, water and maybe make a good cup of tea.
HERO MISSION: Social evenings and dog walking together
We're looking for someone who would be interested in socialising in the evenings from 7 to 9pm. It would be great if we could go to the library or bookstore, or play board games at our home. You would also go with me on a short walk with my dog Max to the local park or simply down the street (Max is a very fluffy little poodle!).
At Home Care Heroes, we want you to put your passion to purpose in order to support Members of your local community.
If you aren’t sure of what skills you can use to support others or, you would like to increase your understanding of community support, disability and ageing, the Hero Academy is the perfect place to start.
Split into 4 simple and fun modules, the training can be completed at your leisure. Once completed, you will be awarded with a “Hero Academy Graduate" badge which is visible on your Hero Profile for Members to see.
Hear the calling. Meet your destiny. Be a Hero. Impact your community.
Home Care Heroes currently operates in New South Wales ONLY. We’ll be expanding to other regions across Australia in late 2018.
Becoming a Hero is simple, just follow the sign up process and if your application is successful and you’ve completed your profile requirements then you can be activated straight after your induction, how exciting is that!
