What you can expect as a Hero

  • Really rewarding work, changing the lives of people who would not normally be able to achieve the same things without your help
  • Difficult situations and dealing with people’s moods where clients don’t want to do what they are told or what you want them to do
  • Fun activities and events, taking clients out from a range of things from sporting games, to lunch, to bowling, to playing video games through to grocery shopping and meal preparation
  • Building a personal relationship with individuals as an extended family member of another family

It is a high honour to be a Hero and we are proud of our community of Heroes and they are proud to be part of it.  50% of people who apply to become a Hero do not get activated.  As a Hero you are an independent contractor and will be engaging with HCH as a business and not as an employee per the terms of the agreement.

We are looking for people who are:

  • Motivated to benefit someone else’s life, with the drive to help others achieve their goals and dreams as well as keep them independent. This means getting creative in the kinds of activities and events that you do with your clients.
  • Able to communicate effectively with your clients
  • Someone who can work independently, making decisions for yourself and your client without the direction of others
  • Someone who can dedicate their time to creating ongoing relationships with their clients

Why are our Heroes independent contractors and not employees?

  • Heroes are not professional carers, they are the BEST people in your community who want to make a difference in the lives of others. This is their side-gig and something that they are passionate about outside of their other responsibilities, giving them the flexibility to work when and where they like.
  • It provides Heroes with a further incentive to do a great job and build long lasting relationships in order to keep working. If clients don’t like a Hero then they won’t choose to work with them again.
  • Every client is different just like every Hero is different. Heroes in conjunction with their client decide what they want to do together and how they want to do it.  Home Care Heroes don’t get involved, we purely facilitate the connection and transaction and make sure that this is done in a safe manner.

How do I get paid?

  • After each job is completed an invoice with the Hero name and ABN is sent to the care seeker at a rate of $32 per hour
  • Home Care Heroes receives the funds from the care seeker
  • Before the 5th working day of the following month Home Care Heroes pays the Hero for the total of hours of work they completed the previous month. Less an admin fee of $7 per hour and insurance (if required) of $0.48 per hour.  Giving the Hero a net payment $24.52 per hour
